Suncatchers

For the breath of life is in the sunlight and the hand of life is in the wind.

                                             Khalil Gibran

I love everything about these suncatchers - the colorful beads, how they twinkle in the sunlight and dance with the breeze. I can't even walk by a suncatcher without pausing to admire it, drawn by its beauty and captured in the moment.  They always make me smile...always.

I love the juxtaposition between the delicate glass beads and the rough natural beauty of the wood. Although these pieces were intended for indoor hanging, you could put them on a covered porch or patio. Just remember that Mother Earth loves to reclaim her children so being subject to the elements outside will cause the piece to deteriorate.

The wood used in these mobiles comes from downed branches and tree trimmings and I never cut or harvest any branches for the sole purpose of making these suncatchers.  Luckily I was blessed with two wonderful oak trees that gift me with all of the branches I could possibly use.  Plus, my neighbors are quite used to seeing me walking down the street dragging tree limbs behind me gifted by weather or age.    For me, these suncatchers bring the elements of Fire (sunlight), Air (movement by wind) and Earth (wood) into our homes.  These timeless, one-of-a-kind pieces are the perfect gift for any occasion.
